Bellare, Rogaway: „Entity Authentication and Key Distribution“

11.07.2018, 10:00 – 11:00

Speaker: Felix Günther, TU Darmstadt | Location: Mornewegstraße 32 (S4|14), Room 5.3.01, Darmstadt

Organizer: Felix Günther, Christian Janson, Cryptoplexity Group, TU Darmstadt

This talk is the fourth one in the seminar series „Reading the Crypto Classics“ for the summer term 2018. The idea of this seminar is to jointly read classical milestone papers in the area of cryptography, to discuss their impact and understand their relevance for current research areas. The seminar is running as an Oberseminar, but at the same time meant to be a joint reading group seminar of the CROSSING Special Interest Group on Advanced Cryptography with all interested CROSSING members being invited to participate.

This issue will cover the paper

Bellare, Rogaway: „Entity Authentication and Key Distribution“ (CRYPTO 1993), DOI: 10.1007/3-540-48329-2_21

with the following abstract:

„We provide the first formal treatment of entity authentication and authenticated key distribution appropriate to the distributed environment. Addressed in detail are the problems of mutual authentication and authenticated key exchange for the symmetric, two-party setting. For each we present a definition, protocol, and proof that the protocol meets its goal, assuming only the existence of a pseudorandom function.“
