Abstract
As new technologies such as Internet of Things and big data analytics become more widespread and powerful, the collection and processing of large amounts of personal data can pose a significant privacy threat. In order to support the end users and help them to protect their privacy, a number of solutions, including legislations, privacy-preserving technologies and awareness raising measures have been proposed. The effectiveness of theses solutions, however, is being contested, for example, with research showing repeatedly that privacy notices of different kinds are often too confusing or too general to be helpful to the end user. The talk will focus on open challenges in privacy protection and will discuss the possible ways to help the users in their privacy-releated decisions.
