So much that is written about blockchain talks about how important and exciting it is, and how to use it, and how much various companies are investing. With this sort of information, it's very difficult to figure out what blockchain actually is, what its properties are, and what problems (if any) it is a good solution for. This talk will give a bit of background into exactly what blockchain is, various common misconceptions, and explore topics that people claim blockchain would be good for, comparing a blockchain approach with other approaches.

Short bio
Radia is a Fellow at Dell EMC. Her work shaped much of how computer networks work today. Her innovations in routing protocol design made network routing more robust, more scalable, and more easily and safely configurable. She is the author of the textbook „Interconnections“ and coauthor of „Network Security: Private Communication in a Public World“. She has been recognized with many industry awards including induction into the National Academy of Engineering, the Inventor Hall of Fame, the Internet Hall of Fame, and lifetime achievement awards from ACM and Usenix. She has a PhD from MIT.

The lectures are free and open for everybody without prior registration.
