Master of Science in IT Security

Information technology is crucial in many areas of life as well as varied commercial sectors, including health, mobility, entertainment, manufacturing, logistics and finance.

A secure IT infrastructure is essential to innovation. IT security prevents economic espionage, economic damage caused by hacker attacks, as well as physical injury incurred by manipulated or unreliable embedded systems.

Sound knowledge of the issues related to the protection and reliability of hardware and software  play a pivotal role in the design and implementation of IT systems. Proficiency in the following areas provides our graduates with a comprehensive understanding of IT security:

  • Cryptography: modern encryption methods as well as other basic cryptographic primitives
  • System security: embedded system and network security
  • Software security: software security and reliability, the design of security architectures for large IT systems

Knowledge in classical areas of computer science, such as operating systems, software engineering, database systems and networks, is also required when designing modern security systems.

Career opportunities for graduates of the master's programme IT Security are excellent. Enrollment for the master's programme IT Security has grown sixfold since its introduction in winter semester 2010/11.
