Second round of Post Quantum Standardization Project submissions announced

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) initiated a process to solicit, evaluate, and standardize one or more quantum-resistant public-key cryptographic algorithms. One of the submissions is the signature scheme qTESLA that was developed at TU Darmstadt by Dr. Nina Bindel who graduated in the group of Prof. Buchmann. The results were announced on January 30 and qTESLA made it to the 2nd round which is a great success. Congratulations!

Partners in the development of qTESLA are Microsoft Research, Canadian company ISARA, Ondokuz Mayis University (Turkey), University of São Paulo (Brasil) and University of Washington Tacoma (USA).

Another signature scheme that made it to the second round is SPHINCS+, led by Prof. Andreas Hülsing (Eindhoven University of Technology), who also graduated in the group of Prof. Buchmann. The basis for SPHINCS+ was developed in his doctoral thesis at TU Darmstadt.
