CYSEC alumnus finalist for CAST/GI Promotion Award IT Security

Dr. Daniel Demmler presents doctoral thesis on privacy protecting protocols

Dr. Daniel Demmler, a former PhD student at the ENCRYPTO group, was nominated by an 18-member jury as a finalist for the CAST/GI Doctoral Award in IT Security 2020.

Demmler will present his doctoral thesis at the annual conference of the GI department “Security – Protection and Reliability” (Security 2020) which was originally planned for end of March, but is now postponed to later this year. From 2013 to 2018, he worked on his thesis “Towards Practical Privacy-Preserving Protocols” and completed it with distinction under the supervision of CYSEC-PI Prof. Dr. Thomas Schneider. Since 2019, Daniel Demmler is a postdoc at the University of Hamburg.

The CAST e.V. and the department “Security – Protection and Reliability” of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (GI) award the prize for an outstanding achievement in the field of IT security. The dissertation must be in a subject area of the Department of Security or its specialist groups. Worthy of the prize are works that represent progress in IT security and those that enable security to be added to IT applications. The award is endowed with 3,000 euros.
