Prof. Michael Pradel and Jibesh Patra won an award at the European Conference on Object Oriented Programming

Prof. Michael Pradel and Jibesh Patra from Software Lab won the Distinguished Poster Award at ECOOP 2016. The paper „Language-Independent Fuzz Testing with Probabilistic, Generative Models“ presents Genesis, a generic approach for generating structured data without an a priori known model. The key idea is to exploit a given corpus of example data to automatically infer a probabilistic, generative model that creates new data with properties similar to the corpus. Using the Genesis-generated JavaScript programs for differential testing of web browsers, the authors find various inconsistencies, including browser bugs, unimplemented language features, and browser-specific behavior that developers should be aware of.

The European Conference on Object Oriented Programming is a scientific meeting dedicated to the study of object-oriented technologies broadly construed. ECOOP 2016 was held at Rome, Italy, from July 17 to July 22, 2016
