Summary of Anniversary Highlights

The 20th Financial Cryptography and Data Security Conference (FC) 2016 was held on February 22 – 26 in Barbados. CROSSING was the co-organizer of this conference. Part of the conference program was devoted to the 20th anniversary of FC, which was co-chaired by Prof. Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi. The anniversary program included two renowned keynotes and a panel discussion on a timely topic: “The Promises and Pitfalls of Distributed Consensus Systems: From Contract Signing to Cryptocurrencies”. The keynote speakers were Turing award winner Adi Shamir and the inventor of digital cash, David Chaum. Other panelists were Florian Kerschbaum (SAP), Peter Ryan (University of Luxembourg), and Pieter Wuille (Blockstream, a startup company) and it was moderated by Ahmad-Reza Sadeghi (TU Darmstadt).
